Nicky Thomas

Nicky Thomas has worked in arts media relations for 15 years. Seven years at London’s Barbican Centre involved PR for the classical and contemporary music programmes and corporate communications for the Centre’s 25th birthday celebrations. In January 2008, Nicky Thomas set up her own media consultancy and is based in London working for clients across Europe.

Career highlights include collaborating with a diverse array of artists and music organisations such as English National Opera, Musica per Roma, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre, the Manning Camerata and Les Talens Lyriques, on a wide range of projects, from music to opera, festival of maths and hybrid multi-arts genres.

Having studied Classics (Latin & Greek) at King’s College London and Bologna University in Italy with part-time courses in piano at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and with the Head of Keyboard at the Conservatorio di Bologna, Nicky Thomas moved straight into a career in music.

As an Associate Producer, Nicky has worked with film director Phil Grabsky on the critically acclaimed documentaries In Search of Mozart and In Search of Beethoven. For her clients, she now produces short promotional videos and films (click through to promovideos) with a team of specialist directors, cameramen and editors.

Lara Kanga

Lara joined Nicky Thomas Media in August 2009 as a Media Relations executive to manage client accounts and promote music organisations through media campaigns, promotional videos and new media.
 
She completed a degree in Mass Media and specialised in Journalism at the University of Mumbai. During this time she worked for various magazines including Time Out, L'Officiel and Seventeen interning and writing features. She also interned with a PR company handling events and client accounts for bollywood actors, designers and high-profile venues.   
 
She then moved on to work for a production company focusing on sports shows, live content and corporate videos. During this time she hosted a weekly show airing on two of Asia's most prominent sports channels.
Lara has handled client accounts for major Indian brands such as Kingfisher and Chateau Indage providing creative support for each client sponsoring the show. Lara moved to London in 2008 and freelanced as a Production Manager, for TV shows, ads, short films and documentaries. 

George Chambers

George studied music at Oxford and joined Nicky Thomas Media in October 2010. Since joining, he has organised the logistics of a large-scale opera performance in Versailles for Les Talens Lyriques, designed innovative PR proposals and written many press releases.  At university, he was the proud musical director of the award-winning Oxford Gargoyles Jazz A Cappella group. He also began his own contemporary vocal ensemble, VoxNox, a contemporary vocal group open to all.
 
In 2008, he was asked to be composer in residence and musical director for the Lady Margaret Hall Festival of Arts and Sciences, where he worked with artists, performers, lecturers and dancers in a week of interdisciplinary performances. George is regularly asked to sing in premieres of new works and is currently working with artist Kimball Bumstead on an interactive art installation. He keeps up his academic research on performance art and the music of American composer Meredith Monk.
